In this article, you’ll learn about SASSA Child Grant application requirements. Before you can qualify for the Child Support Grant for your child, you and the child must meet some specified requirements.
Don’t worry, the requirements are not something hard to meet. However, SASSA is strict about it. Both the parent/caregiver and the child must meet their respective requirements.
If one fails to meet his requirement, the child will be disqualified for the grant.
The good news is, if you’re needy, you can apply for the Child Support Grant to help you raise the child you look after.
SASSA Child Grant Application Requirements For Parent/Caregiver
As a parent or primary caregiver of the child, you must meet the following application requirements for SASSA Child Support Grant.
- Be the child’s primary caregiver (e.g. parent, grandparent or a child over 16 heading a family). Note: If you are not the child’s parent, you must provide proof that you are the child’s primary caregiver through an affidavit from a police official, a social worker’s report, an affidavit from the biological parent, or a letter from the principal of the school attended by the child.
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Do not earn more than R52 800 per year if you are single. If you are married, your combined income should not be above R105 600 per year.
Once you meet all the above requirements as the primary caregiver of the child in question, you can stand in the best position as a parent/caregiver in getting support for your child.
