why is my sassa r350 grant declined

Have you applied for the SRD Grant and got rejected and you are asking why is my SASSA R350 grant declined? Are you wondering about what went wrong to get your Covid-19 R350 Grant application declined?

Well, first of all, it’s heartbreaking when your application for the SASSA SRD R350 grant is declined. That means you’ll not get the monthly R350 whiles others are getting it every month.

So, why is your SASSA R350 declined?

That is what we’re going to answer in this article. We’ll also look at other frequently asked questions about why SASSA declines R350 applications.

Therefore, let’s get started with the topics.

Why Is My SASSA R350 Grant Declined?

There are a couple of factors that account for getting your SASAS Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 Grant application declined.

Why is my SASSA R350 declined?

The reasons your SASSA R350 is declined include;

  1. If you do not meet the age requirement
  2. If you’re employed and have made income tax contributions
  3. If you’re employed in a government institution
  4. If your personal information does not match that of what is in the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) database
  5. If you’re receiving social grants other than a child grant
  6. If you’re receiving funds from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)
  7. If you’re receiving Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), you qualify for UIF based on TERS or contribution to UIF
  8. If your personal information is recorded as deceased in the Department of Home Affairs database.

These are the main reasons your R350 grant application is declined.

What Do I Do If My R350 Is Declined?

You’ll have to appeal through the SASSA Application For Reconsideration. When you submit SASSA R350 reconsideration forms, SASSA will review your application again and make a decision on it.

In that case, you should make sure you qualify for the SASSA SRD R350 Grant and have provided all required personal information that can be verified in the Department of Home Affairs date.

We do recommend that you read How Do I Confirm I Still Qualify For R350 Grant? for the guide and for all the qualification requirements that you must meet before you apply for the grant.

Why My R350 Grant Shows UIF Registered?

When your SASSA R350 grant is declined because your status says Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) registered, it means you either qualify for UIF or you’re currently registered on UIF.

This disqualifies you from getting approved for the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 Grant.

You should read What Does SASSA R350 UIF Registered Means for further explanation and what to do about it.

Why Is My SASSA R350 Still Pending?

Again, your SASSA R350 may not be declined but it has been on pending for longer than expected. Then it means SASSA is not processing your application or has paused the processing.

We do recommend that you read Why Is My SASSA R350 Grant Still Pending? for a detailed explanation and information about it.

Can I Reapply If My SASSA R350 Grant Is Declined?

Yes, you can reapply if your SASSA R350 Grant is declined. When SASSA declines your application, it does not means you cannot apply again for the grant.

SASSA allows applicants whose applications are declined to reapply for review and verification so that, they can look into your application again and possibly approve you for the grant.

You should read How To Reapply For Sassa R350 Grant for the guide for the R350 reapplication process.

SASSA verifies all beneficiaries of R350 Grant every month to check if they still meet the eligiblity requirement to be receiving the SRD R350 grant.

How is it possible that December 2021 through to Feb 2022 shows approved but do not have a payment date till now. March 2022 was paid only now in May 2022.

According to SASSA, they are working on processing all approved but unpaid SRD R350 grants.

Once your SRD grant is declined, the only option is to appeal.SASSA will process your R350 application information again and know that you don’t have other alternative sources of income.

Also, make sure you do not receive an amount of more than R350 in your bank account. It doesn’t matter whether it’s your own or you received it on someone’s behalf.

When SASSA sees that there’s money flowing through your account, they consider it as alternative source of income.
