- Click on MyNSFAS tap
- Create MyNSFAS Account
- Click on Apply
- Complete the information required in the section
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Click Submit to send your NSFAS online application.
You have successfully applied for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.
NSFAS will review and either approve or reject your application.
Now, before you can apply successfully for NSFAS Funding, you’ll need to meet some requirements.

- Identification Document (ID)
- Supporting Document

- A copy of your ID or temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs.

- Smart ID Cards (copy of both sides of the card)

- A person with a disability will need to complete Disability Annexure A Forms.

Application for NSFAS is done online. Students who want to apply for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme must go to the official website of NSFAS which is www.nsfas.org.za
You can do the online application yourself providing you have a device that you can connect to the internet and access the NSFAS website.

To apply for the NSFAS for the first time, you’ll need to go to the nsfas website.

You have applied for NSFAS for the first time as a prospective student or as a returning student.
When Can I Apply For NSFAS 2023?
NSFAS applications open from 28 September 2022 and ends on 21 January 2023. All applicants must submit their applications for funding within this application time period.
Your application will not be considered after the deadline date which is 21st January 2023.

Where Do I Apply For NSFAS?

Do I Need To Apply For NSFAS Every Year?
It is not mandatory to apply for NSFAS funding. Students who apply are those who are in public higher education institutions; universities and TVET Colleges and need financial support for their education.

Dear Sir/Madame,
I intend to apply to Capetown University for consideration to study undergraduate MB.CHb., Medicine . I am presently a British Citizen, however I have studied here in UK to Masters level in, Immunology of Infectious Diseases at the University of London, UK and worked in Research Laboratories. When I pay my fees for the course if I later run out of money ,can I apply for some help in funding and pay you back when I graduate and take up a Research Job in Infectious diseases and Immunology in South Africa or do international applicants not qualify for NSFAS ?
Yes, international students or students who are not South African citizens are not qualified for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). The funding is solely for South Africans.
