The Short Learning Programmes of UNISA are located within different academic departments of the unisa’s colleges.
They are also offered and administered by the Center for Lifelong Learning.
How To Apply For UNISA Short Courses
If you’re trying to apply for UNISA Short Learning Programme, you’ll need to do the application online.
Follow this application guideline to complete the unisa short courses online application.
- Go to www.unisa.ac.za
- Click on Apply
- Click on Short Learning Programmes
- Click on Apply for admission
- Under How to apply? Click on apply online
- Click on Short Learning Programmes
- If you have a student number that starts with a 7… then click YES, if you have any other student number that does not start with a 7… then click NO
- Enter your personal details
- Select the qualification you want to apply for
- Enter your details and continue
- Load your documents
- First select the type of documents e.g ID
- Browse and load your document that you selected
- Click upload
- Submit your application.
Furthermore, it is very important to know that your application is not complete if you do not upload your document but goes ahead to click on submit to send your application to UNISA.
What Are The Documents For UNISA Short Learning Programme Application?
You will need the following documents to complete your UNISA SLP online application.
- Copy of your school qualification (e.g National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic records (if applicable. Also internet copies are not accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport for international students
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translation of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
- Any additional documents as may be required for a specific Short Learning Programme.
All documents must be scanned and uploaded electronically and must be uploaded in this format as required by UNISA.
- Your files must not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each
- Your documents must be submitted in black and white
- The files must be in PDF (Adobe Acrobat Printable Document Format Files, Word Document Files or TIF (image file)
You must upload the documents as individual files and not combine them all as a set to upload.
Furthermore, you must upload all the required documents if you’re starting a new application for the short courses.
Also follow the instructions carefully when uploading your documents.
What Happens After You Apply For UNISA Short Learning Programme?
After you have submitted your application, UNISA will process your information and send you an email of the outcome.
If your application is successful, UNISA will verify and capture the documents you submitted and do a temporary registration on your behalve.
UNISA will then send you a “Temporary Registered” (TP) via e-mail followed by an SMS to the cellphone number you provided in your application.
The letter will also contain the fee that you’ll need to pay to activate your registration.

Anyone who want to start a new short course can apply for admission. Prospective students for the Short Learning Programmes includes
- First-time UNISA applicants
- UNISA student changing to a new Short Learning Programm
- Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered space to study.
