Who cannot appeal to NSFAS? Are you trying to appeal to NSFAS? Are you finding it difficult to appeal your application to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme?

Why has the appeal tab in your MyNSFAS Account disappeared? Why is the appeal tab in your MyNSFAS Account is unclickable?

Well then, you’re on the right page for all the answers about who cannot appeal for NSFAS funding, why you can’t appeal to NSFAS, why the appeal tab has disappeared from your MyNSFAS Account, or why the appeal tab is not clickable?

So let’s get started to discuss the topics.

Who Cannot Appeal To NSFAS?

If you’re wondering about who is denied to appeal to NSFAS, or who is not allowed to appeal to NSFAS, then see the below criteria of students who according to NSFAS, cannot appeal to their application for NSFAS funding.

You are not permitted to appeal if;

  1. You have registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund
  2. You have reached N+2 rules (N+3 in the case of a student living with a disability)
  3. You are a gap year student who NSFAS previously decline to provide financial aid to you due to not meeting the academic eligibility criteria
  4. Your institution has not submitted your academic record or has submitted incorrect registration record to NSFAS (you should contact your institution for such queries)
  5. Your detail of apeal indicates that you disclose different parental or legal guardian information than what you disclosed in the application or
  6. You’re now indicating that you’re independent which is different from what you disclosed in the application.

You are not allowed and cannot appeal your application to NSFAS if you fall under the above criteria.

Now that you know who should not appeal to NSFAS, let us look at some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about who cannot appeal to NSFAS.

Why The Appeal Tab Has Disappeared In MyNSFAS Account?

If the appeal tab has disappeared from your MyNSFAS Account, this means the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has detected that you do not qualify to appeal your application, and hence, they have removed the appeal tab.

Unlike the previous years where you could still see the appeal tab in your MyNSFAS Account even when you did not qualify to appeal, NSFAS has made changes to that now.

They have removed the appeal tab from your MyNSFAS Account once you do not qualify to appeal for NSFAS funding.

Why Is The Appeal Tab In MyNSFAS Account Not Clickable?

If the appeal tab appears in your MyNSFAS Account but it’s unclickable, or you click it but does not function, then it means you might not qualify to appeal.

However, this can also be a system error from the NSFAS website.

Nonetheless, lots of students who are experiencing this issue of unclickable appeal tab in the MyNSFAS Account mostly are those who cannot appeal to NSFAS.

So, you should check if you still qualify to appeal to NSFAS.

We do recommend that you read On What Grounds Does NSFAS Approve Appeals? for the guide to know if you can appeal to NSFAS or you are not allowed to appeal to NSFAS.

Why Can’t I Appeal To NSFAS?

You cannot appeal your application for NSFAS funding because you do not qualify to appeal.

According to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, students who do not qualify for the funding are restricted from appealing at all.

Again, if you do not qualify for the funding, then you cannot appeal to NSFAS.

When Is NSFAS Appeal Closing Date

Students who qualify to appeal or who can appeal to NSFAS have 30 days to Write NSFAS Appeal Motivational Letter with all the required supporting documents to NSFAS.

You should see NSFAS Appeal Closing Date.

Why Is My NSFAS Status Shows N+ Rule Exceeded?

When NSFAS is applying the NSFAS N+ rules, they consider your eligibility for the funding from the first year you registered at an institution but not from the year you started receiving NSFAS funding.

This means, you may have been receiving funding for 2 years for your 4 years qualification but NSFAS will strike you with N+ rule if you’ve exceeded the years you’re expected to complete your qualification.

Thank you for this article, it is helpful in clarifying a lot. having said this, nsfas admin on Twitter keeps advising students who have the n+ exceeding reason to continue checking the portal and promising the appeal tab will eventually appear. they are giving an impression that the is a difference between n+ and n+2/n+3. Is there a difference, and should those who have an n+ exceeding written on their portal be expecting an opportunity to appeal or take it as not eligible to appeal for the reasons stated in your article?

According to the current situation, those affected by the N+ rules appeal tab are removed from their MyNSFAS Account. This clearly implies that NSFAS doesn’t want them to appeal and they are not allowed. t

However, since NSFAS has come with many changes in the application and appeal process this year, let’s hope they make changes to the effect of N+ rules to enable those affected to appeal.

I’m in the same situation except I can appeal but I don’t know which reason to choose since I only failed one module. So can you please check the reasons for appeal and advise me on which one to take

If you passed at least 50% of your modules, then you should consider the reason NSFAS canceled your funding. I think that will give you an idea of the option you can appeal on.
