    • A sworn statement by well respected public leader or a reputable person including a Councilor, social worker, minister of religion who personally knows the applicant and the child, or a traditional leader
    • Baptismal Certificate if availble

  4. Proof of applicants income (may use payslip of 3 months)
  5. Marriage certificate if applicants is a couple
  6. A proof to right to have custody of the child (if divorced)
  7. A death certificate if one or both parents of the child is dead

Criteria For The Child

  • Child must be under 18 years old
  • Child must not be in the care of a state institution
  • Child must be living with the primary caregiver (who must not be getting paid to take care of the child)

Criteria For The Caregiver

  • Parent or Caregiver must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or a refugee
  • Parent or Caregiver must live in South Africa
  • Parent or Caregiver should not earn more than R48 000 per year or R4000 per month.
  • If you are married, your combined income should not be more than R96 000 per year or R8000 per month.

The SASSA Care Dependency Grant aims to provide financial support to caregivers who are providing permanent care to children with mental health or physical disability.
