How to get your NSFAS OTP Number if you cannot access it? This is one of the frequently asked questions by students who are trying to create a MyNSFAS Account for the NSFAS online application.

Have you requested NSFAS OTP and you’re not getting it so that you can continue your application for funding?

This is one of the hectic stages students go through when applying for NSFAS.

Well, if you’re looking for a way out, then you are at the right place.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to get your NSFAS OTP if you can’t access it.

So, let’s jump straight to getting your NSFAS One Time Pin (OTP)

What Is NSFAS One Time Pin, OTP Number?

The NSFAS One Time Pin (OTP) is a Personal Identification Pin Number that you’ll get from NSFAS once to your cell phone number to confirm that you’re the real person logging in to accept the SOP or LAF.

The LAF or SOP is the online loan agreement form that students who are approved for NSFAS funding must sign and it’s done electronically.

You’ll not receive your allowances until you’ve signed the loan agreement and you’ll need the OTP number to log in and sign the form

NSFAS One Time PIN, OTP Number

You can use the NSFAS One Time Pin (OTP) to verify your NSFAS Account in the MyNSFAS Account.

You’ll need the NSFAs OTP when you’re updating or making changes in your NSFAS account.

However, since NSFAS systems operate on computers and network systems, and the internet, some of their processes do not go smoothly and faster as you may want especially when you need it on time.

Sometimes it can take days or months for the NSFAS OTP to arrive. Nonetheless, you may be lucky to get your One Time Pin immediately after you send the request sometimes.

How To Get Your NSFAS OTP Number

  1. Go to nsfas.org.za and click on MyNSFAS account
  2. Enter your Username and Password
  3. Click on the My Personal Details tap
  4. Enter your current cell phone number and email address
  5. Click on Update Your Details
  6. You’ll receive a One Time Pin (OTP) on your new cell phone number and email address
  7. Enter the OTP number you received to unlock your account

Does NSFAS OTP Number Expire?

NSFAS One Time Pin (OTP) is valid for just 24 hours from the minute it is issued to you. After 24 hours, the number expires and you cannot use it.

We advise you to always keep your cell phone with you and one after you request an OTP. And you should use it before 24 hours.

Can I Request For NSFAS OTP Twice?

Yes, you can request an NSFAS One Time Pin twice if the previous one didn’t work, or never arrived.

The OTP usually takes longer than it should. Sometimes it can take days or weeks. In such cases, try to use the same request method to request another OTP.

Again, it may be that you couldn’t use the one sent to you in time and it expires. You can request another OTP in such instances.

How Do I Use NSFAS OTP Number?

  1. Request for the One Time Pin (OTP) number
  2. NSFAS will send you the OTP by SMS to your cell phone (the number you used for the registration)
  3. Enter the Pin you received where you should.
  4. NSFAS system will recognize and you can log into your account

Can I Save NSFAS OTP And Use It Later?

Yes, you can save the pin and use it later but remember it expires after 24 hours. You should therefore remember to use it before it expires

First, you’ll have to make sure you’re approved for NSFAS funding. Second, also make sure you’re using the same cell phone number you used for the NSFAS application.
Third, we suggest you make queries from the nearest NSFAS office or call NSFAS to make a query about the issue.

Sometimes, you don’t get the OTP instantly, it’s unfortunate but that’s the services NSFAS sometimes provide and it can sometimes take days before the OTP is sent.

You can also check your email too.

When you request for OTP, the pin is sent to the number already in your NSFAS Account. In this case, your number is lost. You should first change your cell phone number in your My NSFAS Account.
We suggest that you read How Do I Change My Cell Phone Number In MyNSFAS Account successfully for the guide.
