Will NSFAS Fund Me If I Fail 3 Modules?

The N+ Rule allows NSFAS to fund for the next academicy year after you fail all your modules.

Yes, NSFAS gives students a second chance to get funding if things did not go on well. Students can Reapply For NSFAS if their previous application was not accepted or can appeal for funding if their application is revoked for failing their modules.

Will NSFAS Still Fund Me If I Fail To Pass 50% Of My Modules?

You will need to pass at least 50% of your modules. If you failed to meet the academic requirement, you will need to appeal to NSFAS for reconsideration.

I met my 50% pass requirement for the year as I had 10 modules and passed 5 of them. Do I have to reapply for funding for 2023 or would I already be funded? Even if I am funded, nothing appears on my NSFAS status on the portal so I’m a bit confused.

No, you don’t have to reapply for NSFAS each year once you’re still being funded. The issue with the status not appearing could be a technical glitch in their system/website. Keep trying you get to see your status.

If you did not pass at least 50% of your total modules per semester, then NSFAS will cancel your funding. Failing 3 out of 5 means you did not pass 50% and you can lose your funding.

If you’re already funded, the only way to keep your NSFAS is to pass at least 50% of your modules. So yes, NSFAS will continue to fund you.

For instance you are doing 5 modules of which 2 are semester modules. It happens u fail two of those semester modules. Then second semester, along with second semester modules, you decide to apply for them again. Will NSFAS fund those modules..?

According to the NSFAS academic eligibility rules, you must pass at least 50% of your modules in order to continue getting funding from NSFAS.

So, if failing 2 out of 5 modules makes you pass 50% of your modules, then yes, NSFAS will continue to fund you. If not, you should to appeal for reconsideration, state the reasons you fail the 2 modules and hopefully, you’ll be considered.

You should take a look at How To Write NSFAS Appeal Motivational Letter for the guide.

Reply

When it comes to NSFAS academic eligibility requirements, the only way you lose your funding is by failing to pass at least 50% of your modules. You should then check if failing 2 out of 5 is up to 50% of your modules. We don’t really think so, but you can do inquiries from your institution’s bursary or finance office as well.

You should probably appeal. NSFAS has made many changes in its regulations so far. You might be lucky to get funding.

With the academic eligibility requirements for NSFAS for continuing students, the only way you lose your funding is when you fail to pass at least 50% of your modules. So, if failing 1 out of 15 modules makes you pass at least 50% of your modules this year, NSFAS will continue to fund you.

There’s not limit to the modules nsfas fund so long as you qualify for. NSFAS. Yes NSFAS will fund one module if you’re reading just one module and nsfas will fund all your three modules if you’re reading all three
